Golden Girls Team

The Golden Girls, a robotics team comprised of all girls, from Lake Center Christian School, participated in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL)  Robotic Team State Tournament.  They traveled to Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio on February 3 - 4, 2018.  The two-day Ohio Championship tournament was held in Wright State University Ervin J. Nutter Center with 60 teams being invited to participate.  The team coached by Kelly Carlson, Heath Lambright, Robert Lane, and Crystal Maarschalk has been working on developing a solution to a real-world problem, building an autonomous robot that can be programmed to accomplish tasks, and developing team building skills.

The Lake Center FLL coaches chose to emphasize the FLL Core Value, Gracious Professionalism, which is defined by the team as Luke 6:31 which states "Do to others as you would have them do to you."  The students of our all-girls robotic team (there were only two other all girl teams at the state competition) are in elementary grades.  Most students at this event were in middle school/junior high grades. There is approximately 1,000 teams of FLL in Ohio.  In was quite an honor to be asked to participate in the State Tournament and for our young team to perform so well for their first time at the state level of competition.

Congratulations to Golden Girls

We are very proud of the Golden Girls for their accomplishment. The team finished 45th out of 60 teams at the state competition when they competed on February 3 - 4 at Wright State University.  The girls competed with excellence and represented their family, school, and community well.
